How to Use
Metal Flakes
click here for how to use acrylic flakes

This is a very
popular and unusual nail technique. Real metal flakes create a look
all it's own.
Polish nail with your favorite color, let dry
completely. Apply one to two coats of top coat and let dry
completely. (this extra layer of top coat will help later in the
process, make sure it is dried completely as the flakes will stick wherever
they touch moisture). Now lay bag of flakes down on a stiff piece of paper
and with tweezers gently pull a few flakes out. Now apply top coat in
desired design let it get tacky and pick up single flakes and lay on tacky
top coat. If the flakes get where you don't want them to be or to
clean up edges you can simply use a cotton swap light dipped in non acetone
polish remover to rub away. This was the reason for the extra layers
of top coat to protect the color polish and allow a little room for
correction. To rub this down flat onto nail use the rubber glove and
gently rub, oils on hands will tarnish the metal so try not to touch the
flakes with you bare hands. If you are missing spots...simply add more
top coat where you want the flakes to be and lay on more flakes. Rub
off excess again and apply top coat over entire nail to complete the
process.
HELPFUL HINT:
When using the metal
flakes or sheets if you are planning on moving the flakes around with your
hand or touching them with your hand please wear a glove. (included
w/purchase) since these are real metal they will tarnish from the oils on
your hands and fingers. Once design is in place applying top coat will
protect the flakes and they won't tarnish anymore. Tweezers are
recommended to pick up the flakes and lay on the nail.
